Short version: we collect as little as we can, we use it only to run Upstanding Men, and we never sell it. Photos you frame and messages you check with the First Reply tool never leave your phone.

What we collect

• When you take the Stand: first name, email, and optionally your mobile number, your school, team or town, and whether you agreed to texts.
• When you claim free gear or join the shop list: your mailing address, wristband size, sticker choice, the items you saved, and optionally an email for shipping updates.
• When you share a story: the story text, the Standard it's about, and an optional sign-off and region. We automatically remove handles, emails, phone numbers and links. Don't include names.
• When you join the list: your email and/or mobile number and your texting consent.
• When you give: your name, email, gift amount, how often, the fund you chose, and optionally who the gift honors. Card details go directly to our payment processor; we never see or store them.
• When you offer your expertise: your name, email, role, optional credentials, and how you'd like to help.
• What we don't collect: your photo when you make a profile-picture ring (it's processed on your device and never uploaded); your pledge badge (made on your device); and messages you check with the First Reply tool (we don't store them, and names are removed before anything is processed).

How we use it

• To count you as a member and send you the weekly note (you can unsubscribe anytime).
• To mail the gear you claimed or bought, and to tell you when the shop opens.
• To review and, with your permission, share your story on our site and Instagram, edited for length and without identifying anyone.
• To send texts only if you checked the box. Up to 4 messages a month. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. We don't share your number or texting consent with anyone for their marketing.

Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your information, and we don't use ad trackers. We share only what's needed with service providers that help us run things, under contracts that limit their use of it: our website host, our analytics provider (Google Analytics), our email and text platform, our shipping and fulfillment partner, and our payment processor when the shop opens. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Site analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and buttons help people take the Stand. It uses cookies and collects things like pages viewed, approximate location (city level), device and browser type, and how you got here. We turned off Google signals and ad personalization, and we never send Analytics your name, email, phone, address, story, or anything you type into the practice tool. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking cookies.

How long we keep it

• Mailing addresses: deleted once your package ships.
• Member info: kept while you're a member. Ask us to delete it anytime.
• Stories: stories we don't post are deleted; posted stories stay up until you ask us to take them down.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from email with one click, or text STOP.
• Ask us for a copy of your info, or to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have additional rights, and we honor them.

Age

Upstanding Men is for people 16 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

We protect your information with access controls and encryption in transit, and we limit who on our team can see it. No system is perfect, and we'll tell you if a breach affects you as the law requires.
